Day 1 - Mon., Sept 9

Early morning departure from London Are, Bluewater Duty-Free Stop before crossing Blue Water Bridge into the USA. Travel southerly into Indiana for mid-afternoon arrival at The Inn at Amish Acres, Nappanee, In. for three nights. Explore the 80-acre farm and experience the lifestyle of the Amish thru. guided tours of house and farm, a farm wagon ride tour and opportunity of two documentary films of Genesis and Exodus of the Amish. We will enjoy our evening with a true experience of a lifetime will sharing family food favourites that have been passed from generation to generation with Mary Lou Mullett & Family.

Day 2 - Tues., Sept 10

Tuesday-After incl. breakfast at the Inn, we are off to Indiana’s Largest Flea Market in Shipshewana – a favourite shopping destination featuring nearly 900 open-air booths on 60 acres Find bargains in home decor, clothing, tools, crafts, books, beauty supplies, and furniture. “Everything Imaginable”., Lunch on own at the market or spend time in “downtown” Shipshewana /Davis Mercantile – has something for everyone. Mid-afternoon return to INN for some R & R . Included “Threshers Dinner” at the Restaurant Barn on site before a short walk to the restored 1911 Round Barn Theatre for tonight’s production entitled “Plain and Fancy” – a New Yorker and his sophisticated girlfriend drive down around Lancaster, Pa. To sell a piece of property. Here they meet Amish folk, whose convoluted English speech, clothes and habits haven’t changed for centuries. The clash of cultures educates and entertains at the same time in this quaint musical comedy.

Day 3 - Wed., Sept 11

Enjoy another incl. breakfast at the INN prior to meeting our local tour guide who will enlighten us with details of the Amish Community while traveling the scenic backroads passing horse-drawn buggies, tidy farm homes, and white-washed barns. We will see one-of-a-kind Quilt Gardens featuring over 1 million blooms of flowers planted in the shape of quilt patterns at various locations. A stop at The Nappanee Centre will include attractions of “Hoosier” cabinets, a tribute to the city’s six nationally-known cartoonists, an Air Force One display and the historic John Hartman House. A tour of Ayr Custom Cabinetry Factory seeing the entire manufacturing process from design to completion. A visit to Rentown -known as “The Cheese Place” with over 80 varieties, deli meats, and bulk foods. Steam and antique tractors, threshing, wool carding, cider press, and rug weaving demonstrations reveal old-time skills. A visit to Coppes Commons in Nappanee will offer time for LUNCH (on your own) and/or SHOPPING -This renovated “Hoosier Cabinet” factory houses a variety of small businesses perfect for locally made, handcrafted and fresh baked goods. -even time for “Rocket Science Ice Cream” More local stops in afternoon to a Basket Weaving Demo and to meet an Amish Buggy Maker – ( at time of printing, these arrangements have been tentatively made -pending the availability of the facility) before our travel to Cook’s Bison Ranch at Wolcottville – an opportunity to feed the bison, have a wagon ride and of course DINNER before returning to hotel and bidding farewell to our guide. WHAT A DAY!

Day 4 - Thurs., Sept 12

Pack our bags, and our purchases, and our memories and prepare for our journey home. Stops????????? A stop at duty-free in Pt. Huron will be made prior to our return into Canada Appropriate stops en-route will be made at the discretion of the director and/or driver
